An AMAZING effort by Ella writing her persuasive essay about kite flying! Check this out!

Kite Flying.
A persuasive essay by Ella Crook

‘I’m doing it, I’m doing it! I’m flying a kite!’ Do you recognise these words? These words were spoken by the fictional character, Charlie Brown, when he first flew a kite. And it definitely put a smile on his face. So that’s why I’m here to convince you why you should fly a kite. It makes you smile, it’s fun, and you could spend this time with a family member.

Flying a kite makes you smile. But the real question is, why is a smile so powerful? It all comes down to why smiling can change your brain. When you smile, your brain is aware of this, and actually keeps track of it. The more you smile, the more better you become at breaking the brain’s natural tendency to think negatively. If you smile often enough, you end up making your brain make positive patterns rather than it does negative ones.

Kite flying is fun for anyone at any age. It’s the fact that you get to run away from the kite, as if it's a police chase, and the kite is the cop and you're the robber. And sometimes, it's just fun to watch the kite, with its beautiful colours, glide around in the wind. So go outside, have fun and fly a kite.

Go and fly a kite with a family member- it can be anyone- a cousin, a sibling, or even an Aunty, Uncle or Parent. Spending this time with a loved one is great, because what other way to spend this time with a loved one other than flying a kite? This could be the best way to bond with someone, talking while you look up at your kites, different coloured, watching them glide around in the warm spring air. So go out and fly a kite with a family member.

After all this, haven't you learn’t something? You now know…
  1. Flying a kite makes you smile.
  2. Flying a kite is fun.
  3. Flying a kite with a family member is a great way to bond.
  4. AND THAT YOU SHOULD GO FLY A KITE TODAY!!
‘I'm doing it, I'm doing it, I'm flying a kite!’

Food for Thought

This week we were lucky enough to be visited by Nova. She gave us two 1 hour lessons about Health and Nutrition this week. We learnt a lot about sugar and in particular how much is in our drinks...yikes! We also learnt about the Healthy Food Pyramid :) Thanks so much Nova, you were great!
